AMI Water Meter Appointment Scheduling


AMU has partnered with Midwest Testing to facilitate the installation of the new water meter. Installers will be readily identifiable by their photo identification, uniforms, and vehicles clearly marked "AMU Contractor" with the AMU logo, having also undergone thorough background checks. Please note that the installer will require access to your residence or building, and an adult aged 18 or older must be present during the scheduled appointment. We are confident that you will be satisfied with the exceptional customer service provided.

It is the customer’s responsibility to provide clear and unobstructed access to the water meter. Please move any boxes or debris around the water meter area. Please also verify that your main water shut-off valve is in good working condition prior to your scheduled appointment. This valve is typically located on the pipe immediately adjacent to your water meter, where the water enters the home or building. The meter is typically located in the basement, lower level, or utility room of the home or building. Your water service will be temporarily interrupted during the installation, for approximately 30 minutes.

Please schedule your water meter replacement appointment as soon as possible, so that AMU can complete this project in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Please note: The water meter installation process may introduce small pockets of air into the water pipes, so it is recommended that upon completion of the work, customers run their water faucets briefly to purge any residual air bubbles. Certain appliances, for example Tankless Water Heaters, may be sensitive to pressure differentials and customers are advised to follow manufacturer recommendations.

Appointments are scheduled in 2-hour time frames in which the installer will arrive.

The timeframes are Monday- Thursdays 8-10am, 10am-12pm, 12:30-2:30pm, 2:30-4:30pm and 4:30-6:30pm.
